The Pennsylvania Immigration and Citizenship Coalition (PICC) is a diverse coalition of over 60 member organizations and hundreds of individual supporters. Our membership includes community groups, social, health and legal service providers, advocacy organizations, labor unions, and faith communities. Oversees organization wide systems and facilitates communication between departments in order to strengthen and develop the organization, while ensuring the day-to-day operations run smoothly. The Shut Down Berks Coalition is a group of organizations and individuals fighting to close the Berks immigrant prison in Leesport, PA.

Organized community members in the Latino immigrant community to work on economic and social justice issues. Oversaw and managed office and field staff on day to day goals. Worked in coalition and individually on multiple legislative campaigns. Worked with committees of immigrant adults, immigrant youth and intergenerational groupings. Regularly facilitated weekly meetings and coordinated community wide workshops. Responsible for organizing events from start to finish including marches, speaking agendas, press conferences, bus trips, community meetings, and leadership trainings. Prepared materials and documents for the organization to be used in the meetings, trainings and by the media. Used social media, traditional media and in person contact to recruit members of the organization. As lead organizer played an integral role in the campaign to end ICE holds in Philadelphia and successfully ended the enforcement of ICE holds in Norristown prior to Philadelphia’s EO. Bottom lined four public campaigns of families fighting the detention of their loved one. Currently playing a lead role in the campaign to close down the Berks Detention Center.

Organized community members in low and moderate income communities to work on economic justice issues. Oversaw and managed office and field staff on day to day goals. Ran an organizing drive in Germantown on flooding issues resulting in a multi-million ten year sewer project by the Philadelphia Water Department and Army Engineer Corp. in Germantown. Worked with the Healthy Families and Workplaces campaign to pass the Paid Sick Time Bill twice. Was subcontracted to Fight for Philly to establish a community organizing model. Worked with the PCAPS coalition in a city wide education campaign for community schools. Responsible for organizing events from start to finish including marches, speaking agendas, press conferences, bus trips, community meetings, and leadership trainings. Prepared materials and documents for the organization to be used in the meetings, trainings and by the media. Used social media, traditional media and in person contact to recruit members of the organization.

Worked with community leaders, organizations, businesses to promote jobs with the Census Bureau. Focused primarily on recruiting Spanish speaking and multi-lingual workers. Imputed hired enumerators information into the computer system. Responsible for locating and booking multiple testing sites throughout Philadelphia in order to administer tests to those I recruited.

Camden Rutgers

Recruited and ran an internship program of twenty five students. Taught college level class. Trained Rutgers University students to be politically engaged and organize their own events while directing multiple campaigns at once. Worked closely with Administrators, community leaders, organizations and the media. Used social media, traditional media and in person contact to recruit volunteers and interns of the organization.
