As a partner and senior consultant at Overlook, I provide consulting services to Chinese and American clients who have needs and wants to study, live, experience, and explore in different cultural and educational settings.

• Plan, develop, and manage programs and services by collaborating with campus offices to meet international students’ needs, including, but not limited to international student orientation, international and cultural programs, international student advising and support, etc.• Plan, develop, facilitate, and assess cultural events that are organized by Office of International Student Services to support the acclimation of international students, including, but not limited to Tea and Talk, International Education Week, International Food Festival, etc.• Advise international students as a DSO on visa compliance, academic program policies, American life adaptation, and acclimation to social and personal development, etc.• Plan and implement international summer programs for international students, including recruiting, budgeting, operating, hiring and supervising student workers.• Manage office operations and communications including student outreach and newsletter composition.• Liaise with international student associations on campus as well as Georgia Association of International Education.• Provide cross-cultural communication training for faculty and staff as professional development sessions.• Serve in the Multicultural Faculty Council and assist faculty in supporting and organizing international and multicultural programs.

• Designed both undergraduate and graduate-level course curricula, managed course websites, instructed face-to-face classes as well as online class discussions/forums• Supervised teaching assistants and student mentees• Advised student teachers in field learning and teaching activities in collaboration with local schools

• Coordinated department events and programs, such as new student orientation, summer boot camps, research seminars, and recruiting events for online doctoral program of education.• Collaborated with department faculty and staff as well as other resources on campus to meet the needs of the graduate student community.• Served as a direct contact person for international students and scholars in the department.• Advised F-1 graduate students (30+ per academic year) on academic and social integrations.• Assisted in graduate student admission process, including correspondence, coordination of application review process.• Mentored J-1 visiting scholars (10+ per academic year) to assist them in making appropriate decisions.• Managed academic data and reports of the Master's and Doctoral Programs of Educational Administration and Leadership.

• Participated in research projects: Evaluating Florida’s Bright Futures Program; Entrepreneurship Education in Chinese Universities and Colleges; Exploration of College Student Culture in the U.S. • Conducted research work in literature review, bibliography review, qualitative data analysis, paper editing and formatting, Chinese-English literature translation, policy paper composition and other assigned research work • Completed administrative work for research project and related educational programs

The summer school was hosted by the College of Education at Stanford University, the College Board and Hanban of the Chinese Government. The summer school program provided me with hands-on experience of multilingual and multicultural education. I have learned teaching, learning and communication across Chinese and American cultures, which well prepared me with foundations to cross-cultural training and multilingual education.

The summer school allowed me to experience learning in a British college, living in a small English town and touring the Great Britain. I had in-person experience communicating, learning and teaching in English. Although the summer school was short, it enhanced my conception that international education experience is of great essence for one to master a foreign language, to know a different culture and to survive in an increasing globalized world. With this summer school, I grew a strong will to become an international educator, so that I can help more people to experience global learning.
