The Online Hate Prevention Institute (OHPI) is an Australian Harm Prevention Charity that aims to reduce the risk of suicide, self harm, substance abuse, physical abuse and emotional abuse that can result from online hate. OHPI's focus ranges from cyber-racism, online religious vilification and other group-based forms of online hate, through to the cyber-bullying of individuals. In my role at OHPI my duties include, but are not limited to: finding and report instances of online antisemitism from a variety of social media platforms, draft briefings on online hate (including but not limited to antisemitism), and assist with the creation of briefings, reports, submissions academic papers and other publications as requested by the Managing Director.
Researcher
I am currently a PhD Candidate and a recipient of the Australian Government's Research Training Program Stipend Scholarship. I am researching antisemitism in Australia within the Discipline of Historical and Classical Studies. My project uses case studies drawn from the history of antisemitism in Australia to test existing theories of antisemitism and to develop my own typology and theory. A major aim of my research is to understand the deep, underlying and fundamental driving factors of antisemitism that usually remain dormant, but that can be easily awoken and activated. I also explore the role that antisemitism plays in serving as a sociopolitical glue for various ideologies.
Social Media Coordinator
I worked as Social Media Coordinator at the Adelaide Holocaust Museum for four years. When I commenced, the museum was in its initial development stages and did not have much of a social media presence. I was responsible for growing the museum’s audience across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and ensuring engagement with the community online. During my time as Social Media Coordinator, the Facebook page went from having less than 50 followers to more than 1,000 with primarily organic engagement. This was achieved by regularly reviewing analytics and making informed decisions regarding strategy, as well as by developing and curating engaging content for social media platforms.I was also responsible for creating monthly EDMs with MailChimp and CampaignMonitor. I managed and wrote content for the museum’s website using WordPress. Additionally, I assisted with volunteer coordination and involvement and provided administrative support to the Project Manager, Centre Director, Curator, and Education Coordinator as required. Occasionally I taught high school students who visited the museum for the Education Program.

Communications Officer
I was responsible for creating engaging digital content for the museum's social media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. I produced monthly EDMs for the museum's general audience as well as for the education department using CampaignMonitor. Each month I provided reports on social media analytics. I was also responsible for putting together the internal newsletter for staff and volunteers with Adobe InDesign. I also had experience copywriting and editing for various communications including: website articles, social media, internal and external newsletters and fundraising campaigns.Part of this role also included event coordination. I assisted with the development of public programming and planned both in-person and digital events including The Freedom Circus: Sue Smethurst in conversation with Sue Hampel OAM as well as the On Trial Series events: Testimony of Halina Strnad at the Bruno Dey Trial, and the Ivan Polyukhovich Trial.
Testimonies Department Assistant
When I commenced this role, the Melbourne Holocaust Centre was preparing for its temporary relocation while the site was being redeveloped. My primary duties were to pack and provide an audit of all audio-visual material related to testimonies of Holocaust survivors and their descendants. As part of the auditing process, I created a searchable spreadsheet database of the entire AV testimonies collection, which contains over 1,300 items. This work required meticulous attention to detail and high levels of focus and concentration for long periods of time.
Library Intern
During my internship I assisted with and undertook a wide range of duties. I mainly helped with the Library's social media and events. I chaired and contributed to the development of the 2018 Holocaust Memorial Day Social Media Debate. I also curated a small exhibition for the Library's reading room (Rebuilding and reestablishing Jewish traditions after the Holocaust: Purim and Pesach) and adapted On British Soil: Victims of Nazi Persecution in the Channel Islands to the online version.
