I support the implementation of the Manta Trust’s fundraising & communications strategy, by managing all aspects of the social media platforms and newsletters, maintaining the Manta Trust websites and other digital services, and producing photographic content, films, and digital graphics to promote the research and conservation work of the charity.

Laamu, Maldives

I managed Manta Trust’s research base in Laamu, where I coordinated research activities such as stereo video photogrammetry (SVP) measurements and ultrasound scans of manta rays, photo identification and aerial drone surveys. I was responsible for leading guest dives to manta aggregation areas, giving educational talks and facilitating community engagement activities.

Madeira Island, Portugal

I taught PADI courses, lead DSDs and guided divers, alongside working behind the reception and overseeing the administrativetasks. I contributed to boat driving and care, and ensured that safety protocols and customer service were at the highest level, during the busy summer season.

Baa, Maldives

I contributed to coral research, turtle rehabilitation and aquaculture. I was responsible for conducting guided snorkelling trips, guest excursions and marine life presentations. I trained and supervised Reefscapers interns and Four Seasons Maldivian apprentices. I wrote monthly scientific reports, managed large databases, and processed data through programs such as QGIS, Darwin ID and I3S.

Philippines

I was responsible for the coordination and delivery of Coral Cay’s scientific programme, which included training volunteers in coral reef biology and ecology, species identification skills, surveying techniques and natural resource management. I coordinated the marine surveys and I was responsible for both the management of the database and the processing of data through statistical analysis programmes such as Statistica. I contributed to report writing and created draft MPA data summaries to be presented to the local government.

Philippines

My responsibilities included photographing divers and marine life, editing photographs and then selling these photographs to clients. My work ethic and high sales soon led to being promoted to manager, where I was responsible for coordinating the company’s photographers, organising bookings in dive centres, and managing the payroll of the company.

Falmouth, England, United Kingdom

I completed my Divemaster internship in 2016, which greatly improved my dive skills and knowledge. I then continued to work in the dive shop, helping with dives, promoting health & safety, and generally helping to improve customer experience. Undertaking the internship in the UK has meant that I am accustomed to more extreme and varied conditions.

Falmouth, England, United Kingdom

I worked as a wildlife guide and crew member on a wildlife-watching boat, which required an in-depth knowledge of the species and their behaviour, as well as onboard safety and regulations. I regularly organised and ran snorkel trips, ensuring that snorkelling with wildlife was approached safely and ethically. I acted as a key photographer on the boat during which I photographed the species encountered on the trips, such as basking sharks, for use on the website and species records.
