I have worked at the local, national and global level on a range of human rights and criminal justice issues, including solitary confinement, mass incarceration and police accountability. Prior to joining the Vera Institute of Justice, I was the Deputy Director of The Coalition for Public Safety, and led Amnesty International USA’s work on groundbreaking victories, including the passage of the country’s first reparations package for police torture survivors. I was also fortunate enough to work with community advocates and organizers to help secure the release of two of the longest held-prisoners in solitary confinement, Herman Wallace and Albert Woodfox of the Angola 3. I have represented U.S. Civil Society at the United Nations, acted as a human rights delegate to Palestine's occupied West Bank, and served as a human rights observer in both Fergsuon, MO and Baltimore, Maryland. My analysis has been cited in numerous publications, including the Associated Press, CNN, New York Times, NPR, Reuters, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, The Guardian, The Hill and Newsweek. I am a proud Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Chicago.
