Jasna Rokegem is an award-winning fashion technologist, entrepreneur, and sought-after international keynote speaker who expertly fuses fashion, technology, and emotional intelligence. -Google Digital Atelier Incubator for female entrepreneurs-Impact Shakers gladly joined the stellar partnership with Google Digital Atelier Belgium, ELLE Belgique and BeCentral to support 30 women in their entrepreneurship journey with an exceptional programme uniting our expertise with that of 30 mentors to boost female entrepreneurship in Belgium. I had the honor to be one of those 30 :).

Jasna, the first artist in residence at the Beacon, is collaborating with other companies on her "Opera on Brainwaves" project. Her emotionally connected fashion work aims to increase human connection and empathy, empowering individuals by translating emotions into data. She envisions a unique garment as a living organism, reshaping communication and introducing a new dimension of interaction, inspired by space travel.

Belgian artist Jasna Rokegem shared the exciting news with us this week; she is exhibiting at the NASA Space Center Houston, as part of the prestigious Bionic Me exhibition. Jasna first visited NASA back in November 2017 as a keynote speaker at the cross-industry innovation summit in Houston. She also visited different labs at NASA to discuss her idea with scientists working on the spacesuits.Working at the intersection of fashion, technology and science Jasna latest work is an emotional intelligent fashion piece called​ (RE)Connect. “If we’re to become a space-travelling people, we will have to consider the impact on our own emotions as well as on those we leave behind. Our mental health might become one of the most important pieces in making this a success”, said Jasna in this week’s press release. Adding, “Humanizing technology, will show the potential of using fashion tech for mental wellbeing, not only here on earth, but also in outer space”.

Nokia Bell Labs and Jasna Rok Partnership to Design Innovative Sentient Wearables.Together we have the mission to expand the possibilities of artistic expression and technical innovation for the future of wearable items.Nokia Bell Labs has a long and distinguished history of supporting the creation and production of new art by leveraging its in-house technological skill and innovation, beginning over 50 years ago with the pioneering E.A.T. (Experiments in Art and Technology) project initiated by two Bell Labs engineers, Billy Klüver and Fred Waldhauer, and two artists, Robert Rauschenberg and Robert Whitman. The unique collaboration aimed to foster meaningful exchange between fields and explore the human condition at the beginning of the electronic era.The sentient garment will act as a smart fashionable augmented skin, enveloping its wearer with an intimate and expanded perception of himself/herself (health, emotions, thoughts), people, things, the world and other communicating garments. All the physical senses such as haptic and tactile interfaces will be explored to create novel modes of communication, whereby, for instance, remote presence can be expressed by touch, and personal contextual state and even physiology can be sent remotely to another person, place, or provider of enhanced human digital services.
