Jason originally trained in Rural Medicine in North Queensland and the UK with a strong focus on Anaesthesia and Emergency Medicine.Relocating back to South Australia in 2000, Jason completed training before commencing in the Lyell McEwin and Modbury Emergency Departments and developing an interest for teaching and training as well as maintaining Anaesthetic services.Jason became Director of Modbury Emergency Department in 2006 which ultimately achieved accreditation with the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine. In April 2015, Jason stepped down as Modbury ED Director to resume a Clinical role and also took on a part time role as Clinical Director, South Coast Emergency Department and maintaining GP Anaesthesia skills.In 2013 Jason became the first recipient of the ACEM Diploma in Emergency Medicine (now EMAD) and is also an APLS, ALS Instructor and EMC/EMD Supervisor.Jason has completed a Masters in Public Health through Torrens University Australia, became a Senior Lecturer at Flinders Medical School and also obtained FACRRM status. Jason has also now completed the AFRACMA qualification in Medical Administration.As at September 2017 Jason has taken on an ED/Anaesthetic Rural Generalist Consultant position in the Barossa Hills Fleurieu Region, is BHF LHN ED Director and Rural Generalist ED Lead for the Rural Support Service, and has commenced part time with the newly established Virtual Care Service (VCS) With Peter Stuart, Jason is co-Director of LearnEM which for the past 16 years has run the successful Rural Emergency Skills Program all over country SA. Jason is also co-author of the "ABCDs of Emergency Medicine" (9th Edition released in 2021), and co-facilitates the annual RESP Conference and contributes to the LearnEM website learning modules.Jason is married to Michelle with 2 children, Summer and Zane.Other interests include fitness, music, travel, reading and supporting the mighty Port Power!
