Responsible for:• Providing advice to the system as Principal Advisor for Human Experience across NSW, including Ministers and NSW Health executive• Preparing briefs in response to Ministerial request, report releases and complaints related to patient experience in NSW hospitals• NSW Health performance reporting and KPIs for human experience• Advising on patient experience elements for statewide and local data collections, including questionnaire content, collection methodology and analysis• Presentations across the system on the new flagship program, Elevating the Human Experience (ETHE).Key achievements• Published the NSW Health human experience strategy manual, Elevating the Human Experience – Our Guide to Action• Developed and implemented the Elevating the Human Experience governance structure• Led on the recruitment of more than 500 health staff, consumers, carers and academics for the Enabler Working Groups, including developing the framework for the groups to identify, assess and recommend initiatives for the ETHE three-year workplan• Developed an organisational human experience maturity assessment for emergency patients, admitted patients and outpatients• Led the evaluation of the Emergency Department Patient Experience Program, a $8.9 million recurrent program to improve emergency department experiences• Led the scaling of the NSW Health Literacy Hub, including interorganisational agreements, role descriptions and recruitment, procurement and legal review, and relationships management• Led development of the NSW Health Guidelines for the Remuneration and Reimbursement of Consumer Representatives.

Responsible for:• Leading external engagement and increasing the profile of the NSW Survey Program• Contract management, including procurement and tending process for survey program • Management of program risk, including privacy and legal issues in partnership with the Ministry of Health• Management of $2.3m recurrent survey budget• Management of survey program execution, including development of bespoke surveys and questionnaires, analysis and interpretation of results• Management of BHI survey team.Key achievements• Development and implementation of the survey program five-year strategic plan (2014 - 2019) which included:o Expansion of the survey program from three survey streams to eight involving more than a quarter of a million patients annuallyo Establishment of the annual NSW Patient Experience Symposium, attended by more than 600 clinicians and consumers over two days o Development of the Snapshot report line, supported by the online tool reporting tool (Healthcare Observer) and Local Health District specific data spreadsheets o New engagement strategy involving strategic and operational advisory committees for the survey programo Engagement with more than 110 organisations and experts in development of the survey strategy • Secured additional funding in 2018-19 of ~$800k for priority work into the flagship “Leading Better Value Care” program, the Integrated Care program and the Aboriginal Patient Experience Program• Established the Australian Patient Experience Survey Community of Practice• Development of the NSW patient experience metrics using factor analysis to develop four indexes and benchmarks that were adopted as NSW Key Performance Indicators• Represented Australia on the OECD Patient Reported Indicators Survey (PaRIS).

Responsible for:• Development of national performance metrics for all public and private hospitals for reporting against the National Health Reform Agreement• Partnering with state and Commonwealth experts in the development of metrics• Engagement with state and Commonwealth leads in approving national metrics• Management of budget for consultation and commissioning in excess of $5 million annually• Management and development of high-performing team of measurement and analytic experts.Key achievements• Development of new Australian system for peer comparison of hospital-acquired infections• Development of Hospital-standardised Mortality Ratio (HSMR) with flexibility for patient composition by state and territory• Development of a case-mix adjusted relative stay index (RSI) for comparison of hospitals across Australia.
