Originally hired as one of four operators of the cogen plant - specializing in Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment. BOP meant pretty much everything that was not gas turbine, instrumentation, or computer. So I had all the boilers, pumps, piping, air and natural gas compressors, chemical feed sytems, etc. under my care. Over the course of my employment, I learned to calibrate Foxboro flow, pressure, and level transmitters; and tune the control loops. I also learned to automate tasks in Lotus 123 and Paradox (remember those?) and communicate with the Bailey Net-90 control system. And once I was knowledgeable about the workings of our gas turbines, I became the company field service technician, travelling to other cogen sites to inspect and perform PM tasks on the other gas turbines.
