Spending my fledgling years deep in the heart of South London, I have, as an adult, learned to appreciate the beauty of the coast that seemed so mundane to me as a young adult. Never did I consider that I'd end up working to maintain that beauty for generations to come.My working life has been varied, but the focus has almost exclusively leaned on my ability to communicate. Retail, Sales, Employment Support, Prison Officer, Department for Work and Pensions, Kickstart, Prison Employment Lead.I value people, and no matter the role, they come first. A strong team is a happy team, and a happy team is a productive one.I strongly dislike the terms 'Resource' and 'asset' for employees.My drive, no surprise given my recruitment background, is both recruitment and Learning and Development. Growth is essential in retention of good people.I believe in promoting from within and trusting people to do a job.I believe that loyalty should be rewarded, and that most work can be taught and learned. I believe that a Line Manager can have a profound influence on their teams, good and bad.I believe that a lack of academic achievement, and/or a lower socioeconomic background, should not hold anyone back.I believe that failure breeds success, with the correct support.I believe that hard work is born from the gift of opportunity.I believe this because, for the most part, I've lived it.I've been lucky enough to work semi-professionally on many of the hobbies I have. I've been a professional musician, a professional wrestling referee and commentator. I've been a writer, of sorts, and a podcast host.I'd love to work in the entertainment industry in another guise down the line.I don't know if I will, or what it could look like if I do.Uncertainty is OK.I adore comic books, science fiction and Bruce Springsteen. I adore stories, because everyone, everything, has a unique one that can be learned from. I believe that aging is compulsory, but growing up is optional.The most important thing I've ever done in my life is become a Father, and it's the single most fulfilling and challenging role I'll ever have.
