Structures analysis in the Mechanical Systems team for the Unmanned Dream Chaser. Primary task: definition and analysis of flight control surfaces.

Non-linear analysis of fuselage frames, and miscellaneous analysis of various aircraft components, landing gear doors, flight deck components etc.

- Stress Analyst:Analysis of WhiteKnight2 Ailerons, Rudder and Nose Landing Gear. Developed a kinematics model of the pitch, yaw and roll FCS circuits. Flight test data reduction for the FCS. Learjet 85 FEM constructionMitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) Main engine mounts also worked Tailcone systems brackets and installs.USAF Special projects pod, frames, skins and equipment traysProducing structural and environmental test plans for the Main Landing Gear Door, Winglet and Aileron Gear Tab Bungee, including structural deflection and strain predictions for the Gulfstream G280.Wingbox stressing (Aft spar and BL0 rib), stressing on the spoiler fittings and wing to fuselage fairing fittings for the Gulfstream G650.Construction of a fine detail FEM of the fuselage/wing/wing-box region for Boeing 787. Stress of systems - brackets. Stressing of cargo hold intercostal ribs and cargo hold tension fittings.F-35 Lightning II: Stressing the forward fuselage bulkheads, shelves and floors. Also static and fatigue analysis of test fixtures and lugs for both static and durability tests. - Other taskings:Fuel Systems: Conceptual Engineer and Analyst for the AS2 Aerion Supersonic Business JetProject Manager for the LMI involvement with The Spaceship Company, see separate entry.Integrator on the MRJ tailcone, overseeing CFD, Thermal, Acoustic, Vibration and Fire Protection System analyses involved in co-ordination, scheduling, budget requests, producing and checking SoWs, reviewing and assessing all work involved.

Project Manager for the LMI involvement with The Spaceship Company. This work covered both the WK2 and SS2 vehicles. Overseeing support for Flight Controls, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electrical/Avionics, Fuel, Power Plant integration, Landing gear, Wing Stress analysis and CPD design. Work involved co-ordination, scheduling, budget, reviewing and assessing all work involved and on site customer support.

Member of the Structural Certification and Qualification Team for the F-35 Lightning II. Worked in close relationship with the stress team analysing and confirming their results to develop the worst cases scenarios for the structure then using them to produce a realistic and worst case set of load cases for test. Additional work included Structural testing of the horizontal tail, producing, presenting and performing the structural test plan for flight qualification and to working closely with the design, stress, production and test engineers.

Stress analysis of wing failure of PA28 to assist AAIB (Air Accident Investigation Branch, UK NTSB) investigation, including developing loads model and flight dynamics to generate loads for the stress analysis.Stress analysis of main landing gear of the MD-82 to assist AAIB investigation. FEM construction of Mirage 2000 wing for in service stress assessment. Other duties included quality control and project handling.

Stressing of Boeing 777-300ER fixed leading edge (on-site support BAE Prestwick, UK)Stress and design of Nimrod MRA4 stub intake (all composite).Stress and Design of GSE for 50ft diameter altitude simulation sphere.Design and analysis of engine flares (bell mouth) for jet engine tests.Thermal analysis of Trent series air flow path prototype engine. All projects have involved extensive use of Composites.

Stress analysis of the spine and attachment to airframe of imaging turrets.Environmental Qualification Testing of the turrets including liaison with test houses, writing test plans, compiling Type Records and Airform 100A (Application for test flight of equipment).

Low mass structural engineering for scientific research. Including work on the ATLAS detector currently installed in the CERN particle accelerator to help search for the Higgs Boson elementary particleStress analyst on development of a spark chamberCheck stressing on cool engines to be used in satellitesVarious engineering projects on the local particle accelerator.
