The Fine Chemicals Group is one of the largest Technical Interest Groups in SCI. Our wide-ranging interests include medicinal chemistry and drug discovery, process and development chemistry, colour chemistry, flavour and fragrance chemistry, and general organic chemistry, especially new and important aspects of synthetic chemistry.

The mission of the Circa Renewable Chemistry Institute is to advance and promote the development and commercialization of renewable chemistry, processes and products that enable the chemical industry to transition to commercially viable, sustainable, and environmentally responsible bio-based products at an industrial scale.

​​Circa is a renewable chemicals company with the scalable technology to produce unique and highly valuable bio-based chemicals. Our Furacell™ production process takes abundant waste biomass and makes a platform molecule, levoglucosenone (LGO).From this versatile building block, multiple sustainable bio-based chemicals have been developed to replace.

As a visiting industrial fellow, I collaborated with the CSCT (Centre for Sustainable and Circular Technologies) in student and staff training and mentoring in entrepreneurship and commercialisation.
