About Jason E. Squire

Jason E. Squire is Professor at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, editor of The Movie Business Book (in its fourth edition) and trusted media source. His groundbreaking research on business aspects of entertainment helped establish “movie business” as a distinct area of academic study. He joined the USC faculty after a career as an executive in the movie industry. Beijing Film Academy honored him with an appointment as Visiting Professor in the Management Department. Later, he was named Master of Entertainment Studies by DeTao Masters Academy in Shanghai. His scholarly work was honored at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York with a panel he curated and moderated featuring Shari Redstone, Chairman of the Board, ViacomCBS and president of National Amusements. Global honors include Guest Speaker, Beijing International Film Festival; Shanghai Library; Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) in Beijing and Guangzhou; Japan Visual Industry Promotional Organization (VIPO); Tokyo University of Technology; Shanghai International Film Festival; and Film Business Academy launch, Cass Business School, City University, London. Squire co-hosts both “The Movie Business Podcast Series: Making Sense of the New Motion Picture Ecosystem,” and an annual “Crystal Ball Industry Predictions” podcast co-branded by The Movie Business Book and Green Hasson Janks Accountants. Squire was inducted as an Honorary Fellow of The Mallen Scholars and Practitioners Conference in Filmed Entertainment Economics, a unique, annual gathering of established global scholars In his industry career, Squire served as an executive at Avco Embassy, United Artists, 20th Century Fox and with producer Alberto Grimaldi (THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY; FELLINI SATYRICON; GANGS OF NEW YORK). He has also written for the screen (RED HARVEST) and executive produced the CONAN THE BARBARIAN soundtrack album.
