These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:•Performing on-site surveys for projects. •Recognizing potential technical risks to the project and proposing effective solutions to mitigate these risks. •Selecting the tolling solution hardware according to the design constraints, including calculating bandwidth and storage requirements. •Creating and maintaining the bill of materials (BoM) – including procurement•Design input on all mounting details, both roadside and within enclosures. •Detailing the electrical, mechanical, and civil design in CAD. •Designing the environmental control subsystems, including HVAC with heat load calculations. •Designing the power distribution and conditioning subsystems. •Detailing the electrical design, including wiring diagrams and conduit runs and fill calculations. •Designing the control systems, including analog and digital input/output (I/O), and detailing them. •Designing the backplanes, cabinets, and server racks and detailing them. •Designing the roadside and host networks, including serial, fiberoptic, wireless, RFID, and Internet Protocol (IP) protocols. •Developing the IP schema, point to point, and system level diagrams for the network. •Presenting my design to internal and external stakeholders and defending the design while collecting feedback during design reviews. •Reviewing designs from other SEs and providing constructive feedback while sharing lessons learned. •Mentoring junior engineers •Identifying areas of potential operational improvement within the organization and proposing plans to improve.
