In my function, I am responsible for the policies that help all departments across government attract, develop and retain the people and skills they need to achieve government transformation. This includes, among others, coordinating the 14 traineeships the Government currently offers, innovating recruitment and assessment strategy, and optimizing the onboarding strategy.

Moreover, societal changes, such as greater structural variety within the working society, increased usage of information technologies and globalization, shape the new context in which organizations have to operate. Organizations are forced to become more lean and mean, with flexibility, adaptability and efficiency as core principles to survive and remain competitive in the current climate. As a consequence, individuals are expected to adept to these changes and endeavor into the world of labor with a different career attitude and/or expectation.” My research focuses on how individuals (are able to) craft a career in these rural times and give organizations the means to (re)design jobs more efficiently to increase individual, group and organizational outcomes.

I provide my team with state of the art scientific knowledge to optimize the way the National Public Administration (NPA) designs and deploys HR strategic, and drive research for sustainable performance. Topics that I focus on include employability, career crafting, sustainable employment and personnel mobility. At European Level I represent the Dutch NPA at EUropean Public Adminstration (EUPAN) Network conferences to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration between Member States. During the Dutch Presidency of the EU our team published an overview and vision on Cross-Border Mobility.
