Working closely with Small to Medium sized Enterprises (SME) within the UK and India with the aim of developing the international (UK/India) aspects of their businesses.

My role as the business development lead for India was been formalised with the establishment of the Chemring Technology Solutions (CTS) international business development team. In this position I am responsible for the development and implementation of the CTS strategy for India. Other responsibilities include developing routes to market for CTS products, R&D and consultancy services through direct sales or via in country partners, building strategic partnerships and promoting the broader Chemring Group products and services within India.

With the acquisition of Roke by Chemring my role changed within the organisation and I took on the task of developing on Roke's initial international strategy for both India and Brazil. During this time I was responsible for the generation of the India and Brazil country plans and all of Roke's initial business development and marketing activities within India. This involved spending significant time in India working with the local Chemring Special Forces and MoD account managers to build strategic relations with key stakeholders within the user communities, Defence Research and Development Organisation and Indian Prime Contractors as routes to market for Roke products and capabilities. During this period I also won a UKTI Scholarship spent a week with the SP Jain University in Mumbai to develop a better understanding of Indian Business Culture.Skills acquired : International Strategy Development, International Customer Management, Export Process, Compliance, Indian Cultural Awareness

With a company re-organisation significantly changing the companies structure I moved to the Sales and Marketing Department as a Defence Account Manager. In this Role I became more intimately involved with strategic planning within Roke. Initially responsible for the Cobham and Thales accounts this was broadened to include MoD ISTAR. In this role I developed several key relationships with the UK MoD Unmanned Air Systems community, the Watchkeeper Unmanned Air Vehicle programme and NATO MAJIIC in support of Roke's Unmanned Systems and Electronic Support Business Sectors. I was also responsible for the planning and implementation of several key exhibitions including DSEi, Shepherds EW Europe and AUVSI.Skills acquired : Strategic Planning, Account Management, Exhibition Planning, Organisation and Attendance, Product Marketing

During a company re-organisation I was promoted to the position of Senior Skill Group Leader with responsibility for the majority of Roke's defence modelling capability including Phased Array Radar, Radar Cross Section and Radio Propagation modelling. This larger skill group meant that I spent much more of my time undertaking business development, bidding, project management and people management with my technical role reduced to that of technical strategy development and research report review. With the formation of the Avionics Skill Group I was promoted to the position of Skill Group Leader responsible for the overall management of the skill group and reporting directly to the Business Unit Director This included utilisation, training, career management and overall profit of the skill group. In this role I was responsible for the winning of several significant projects including a vehicle scanning system for the UK home office deployed to Calais to detect illegal immigrants, the radar altimeter for the UK Beagle 2 Mars Lander and a flight control system for the FR Limited towed target. During this period I was also tasked with the Product Management of Roke's miniature radar altimeter product and was responsible for winning Roke's largest order for radar altimeters. During the time I ran this skill group I also managed the CAA certification and implementation of several helicopter trials installations for testing specialist radar and avionics equipment.Skills acquired : Space Domain Knowledge, People Management, Customer Management, Product Management

I joined Roke as Senior Engineer within the Radar Skill Group and began research work in the area of Phased Array Radar. This work involved significant customer interaction, technical presentations, project management and bidding activities. With the success of this work I was given the additional responsibility of programme managing a collaborative weapon guidance research study. Under my leadership this became a joint UK/US research programme resulting in an extended series of live rocket motor and helicopter flight trials.Skills acquired : Radar Domain Knowledge, Presentation skills, Project/Programme Management, Technical Report Writing, Bidding

With the formation of the Electronic Warfare Department I was promoted to the position of Electronic Warfare Development Engineer. Here I initially undertook the support of all Electronic Warfare assets used for operational training of both the Royal Navy and Royal Airforce. As the department grew I became responsible for the design, modification, build, testing and certification of airborne Radar jamming equipment. In this role I was responsible for the planning and implementation of several Electronic Warfare evaluation excercises, culminating in three weeks of successful live trials on the Nellis Ranges in the USA.Skills acquired : Electronic Warfare Domain Knowledge, C++ programming, Object Oriented Programming, Microcontroller Programming, Digital Electronics, RF Engineering, Trials Management, Bidding

My initial role upon joining FR Aviation was as an Avionics Design Engineer. This role allowed me to gain invaluable knowledge of the aviation industry by working in a team of design engineers supporting FR Aviation's fleet of aircraft (Dassault Falcon-20, Cessna Conquest, Beechcraft Baron and BN Islander).Skills acquired : Aerospace maintenance and design procedures and standards, Avionics design, Aircraft certification
