About Jason Han
I'm a rising senior at Rice University studying Computer Science, and I'm interested in using near-term quantum computers for computational advantages.I'm currently performing quantum computing research at Professor Tirthak Patel's lab at Rice University. Recently, I was invited to present my work on quantum image diffusion models at the ACM SIGMETRICS 2024 Student Research Competition (SRC), and I was privileged and honored to receive First Place in the Undergraduate category. I was also invited to presented my group's work at the International Conference for Computer-Aided Design (ICCAD) 2023 Drug Discovery Challenge, where we proposed a circuit approximation technique to generate shallow-depth, effective quantum circuits. Our work receieved an honorable mention and innovation award nomination, and we were also featured on the news page for Rice's CS department. I'm currently working on a project at the Center for Quantum Networks for optimized entanglement purification circuits, which has been exciting thus far.I've also worked on innovative projects that change the future of software engineering. Last summer, my team and I at The Cigna Group developed a full-stack application that can automatically modernize any legacy application, changing both the programming language and the design of the software itself. I presented our project to senior executives at The Cigna Group, who recognized the capability of the project to revolutionize software development and provided funding for its development. My passion for thinking logically and exploring the world through a scientific lens drives me to serve as a Teaching Assistant every semester I could at Rice. I’ve served as a teaching assistant for Multivariable Calculus, Discrete Mathematics + Algorithms (twice), and currently for Introduction to Program Design (twice). I also serve as an unpaid academic tutor for Multivariable Calculus, Physics, and Computer Science courses at Rice, because I believe that nothing should stop students from being curious and learning more about the world around them.I’d love to talk about opportunities in software engineering, research, or education. Please reach out to me at jason.han@rice.edu if you’d like to connect!
