- Conducting technical evaluations for new and ongoing renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hydro, geothermal) for deployment/installation in First Nation communities.- Providing technical expertise and guidance on products delivered by contractors, identifying key opportunities/emerging technologies to inform and advance IRES deliverables.- Contributing to program monitoring for reduction of fossil fuel power generation in First Nation communities as a part of the Pan Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change.- Providing technical and analytical support to NRCan’s internal and external customers as required including the development of new NRCan Renewable Energy initiatives.

- Ensured optimal development of peak shaving/load levelling projects by establishing project priorities, developing project work plans and schedules.- Initiated and coordinated technical review processes among internal specialists (including civil and electrical engineering, energy assessment, and other technology experts).- Evaluated bid documents, specifications, and drawings to verify intended project scope of work and developed plans to continue construction after proper approvals were obtained.

• Provided engineering support for programs and projects related to the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of community infrastructure and to address environmental issues across the North for First Nations and other aboriginal communities.

HYDROELECTRIC POWER GENERATION•Led troubleshooting exercises and supported Plant Operations staff by obtaining all the necessary data for problem solving, including reports on condition of equipment, defining and/or executing site investigations, reviewing design features of equipment, evaluation of maintenance repair and rehabilitation methods, availability of equipment and materials.•Reviewed inspection reports, equipment test results, commissioning documents, quality assurance documentation and as-built drawings to develop a hydroelectric turbine maintenance work scope. •Performed technical evaluations and analysis of emerging technologies for improvements in safety, performance, equipment inspection and reliability, and lifecycle assessment.SOLAR PHOTVOLTAIC (PV) POWER GENERATION•Served as point of contact between external contractors/vendors and Generation Management team to track replacement parts inventory, initiate parts procurement orders and perform cost control duties.•Assured that project designs and installations met all the relevant safety regulations and statutory engineering standards, during remediation and re-commissioning of Solar PV sites.•Presented technical results (financial expenditures, technical progress reports, justification for amendment to remediation work scope) to non-technical audience (Senior Departmental stakeholders, Company business managers) through monthly updates, quarterly progress reports, teleconferences, and physical meetings.

THERMAL POWER GENERATION (GT/HRSG/COMBINED CYCLE)•Experience in reliability support and maintenance of high-speed turbomachinery and systems in gas and steam turbines, generators, exciters, and other auxiliary turbine systems maintenance.•Strong knowledge of maintenance scope development, maintenance cycle frequencies, component life, component repair, work and parts planning and scheduling, and other relevant project management principles • Applied predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance methods to maintain high availability levels for all power generating equipment through the daily review of operations logs, visual assessments and discussions with on-site operations personnel. •Performed technical evaluations and analysis of emerging technology for improvements in safety, energy performance, equipment inspection and reliability, and lifecycle assessment.•Performed daily analysis of turbine operating data on an as needed basis (operational faults or based on generation variances) to determine trends, identify opportunities for performance improvement as well as identify concerns including conducting or coordinating consequential root cause reviews.•Performed non-destructive testing and analysis such as borescope inspections for gas turbine condition assessments and conducted root cause analysis of previous HRSG tube failures through visual inspections and Ultrasonic testing for data analysis of tube wall thickness material loss. •Possess a deep understanding of gas turbine inspection, repair and refurbishment technologies, metallurgy and material degradation and fatigue mechanisms, coatings, testing methods, operating modes, performance, and lifecycle optimization.
