Working with Essex as a leasing consultant introduced me to the internal workings of property management. In 6 months of employment I was promoted to an Assistant Property Manager. I gained hands on experience in the writing and negotiation of contracts; the reviewing and enforcement procedures relating to vendor and client contracts. I gained proficiency in all legal and ethical aspects of property management; market research, auditing and strategic planning in a competitive environment. Which is an essential skill I acquired while working with Essex. I assumed the responsibility of organizing and recruiting the subcontractors for remodeling, cleaning, repairing and supplying the property of all necessary improvements and services. Arranging community events and client appreciation programs were an additional task I took upon myself. Working in this field I gained valuable office skills and resourcefulness that will aid me throughout the rest of my life.

I enjoyed the fast paced environment that came with being an Assistant Manager with QFC; I was responsible for all store operations from 2pm to 11pm. I was the Manager on Duty from 4:30pm to 11pm as 5 departments heads reported status and solicited assistance with operations and customer satisfaction. Additional responsibilities included scheduling, customer service, till audits, register loans and safe drops, end of day account balancing, securing the safe, ordering and managing the inventory of the frozen foods and dairy departments; the stocking of frozen foods, dairy coolers and end of aisle displays. Designing layouts and set up displays for promotional and holiday marketing projects. Learning how to delegate duties, and identify abilities in others and provide them with direction that allowed us to be successful throughout the evening shift. I trained and mentored team members to achieve promotions to leader positions within the company.
