As a DevOps engineer at Delta one of the major tasks was to bring infrastructure and the server team into the CI/CD pipeline and automate the complete provisioning/resource build out of all servers and or infrastructure services required by the development teams or the business directly.- Built Ansible scripts to push the deployed code onto the servers- Worked with the organization to build a completely new API infrastructure to allow Delta to have multiple active sites at once between our on-prem, DR site, along with the Cloud. This covered aspects from Traffic Manager (Azure) at the Edge, to the creation of origin points and how those services are then laid out on the backend load balanced servers.- Designed and started implementation of a true organizational wide blue – green deployment pattern for the various coding systems and the standards on notification to other teams when a new application has been deployed.- Internal POC was done to management showing complete zero human interaction on a VM buildout on-prem and in the Cloud that had all business requirements when it came to security and software. Took the average server build time from 5 hours on-prem to 9 minutes and 3 minutes in the Cloud with all required software and security practices enabled by Delta.- Assisted the development team with the server side tuning of their java applications for better response times and overall uptime.

As a DevOps engineer I have assisted and worked with the organization as a whole to fine tune the best practices on continual integration and continual delivery, this has been primarily in our newest transform space which is also within our newly expanded Cloud infrastructure.- Assisted with the design and build out of our Azure Cloud environment- Helped automate tasks within other aspects of the company of our current eCom environment- Fluent with Powershell, was able to provision all storage, network, load balancers, and availability sets to automate the build out and re-provisioning of environments- Planned and designed the network infrastructure with the assistance of our other teams to ensure that no overlap was going to come forward- Used automation tools like Chef and Puppet to provision and automate all server builds in verticals past our development environment

As a Systems Engineer my main responsibly was to ensure that our eCommerce environment was up and fully functional to all internal employees, vendors, and most importantly our customers. Included in this was the task of simplifying some of these processes and reduce the amount of downtime required each month for day to day tasks.- Greatly reduced the risk and downtime associated with our Search technology (Endeca)- Greatly reduced the dependency on CDW for patching our infrastructure within our eCom environment saving us money on our managed services- Re-architected Endeca and was able to allow the business to go back to a 10 minute partial update and also reduce the amount of time baseline and promotes took by 50%- Built out a standard web server template that was used and clone to spin up additional resources on the fly for either high demand launches or for our holiday season

Lead the internal IT within the company and also assist our online backup support department on many day to day tasks, but primary function is to keep our mission critical servers and SAN’s available to our end clients.Transitioned our web servers that supported our clients from a Windows based tomcat environment to a full Linux back-end, reducing the costs associated with each server, and giving us better tuning and performance control. This resulted in a rough increase of roughly 300% CPU utilization, 120% throughput performance, and a reduction of 4 fold in tomcat/JVM errors vs. the prior Windows based environment. Other key features to the migration was better security, software costs, open source software that allows consumers the ability to customize and or modify the code as they wish, and one of the last reasons is the reliability that comes with along with Linux.Developed and implemented a MySQL replication that includes a master/slave combination, along with a master/dual slave configuration to allow non-stop replication even when one would be brought offline to perform a daily full backup of the entire database without causing any interruptions to the million plus client transactions.Designed and developed a new high availability storage server that will increase our storage space by 50% along with cutting the individual price of the SAN’s 15%, this allows us to get more usage out of our rack-space within our two data centers to support our client base.

Primary focus was to monitor and maintain the 1000+ managed computer systems that our clients hosted with us and notify them of any disruption that arose, per the handbook policies set in place between us and our clients. Design and configure monitoring policies, integration into our network monitoring solution (Solarwinds Orion), design and creation of documentation for policy changes, procedure documentation along with implementation of migration changes for clients.Also provided help desk support for large clients during peak and off hours that included but not limited to troubleshooting of user accounts in domain based directories, reset passwords, user connectivity, and other miscellaneous issues that arise.

Supported faculty and students attending the campus at any given time, this covers and is not only limited to the troubleshooting of user accounts, assisting faculty with computer/networking issues within the classrooms. Assisted students with their own personal laptop or desktops, this included the ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues, along with virus removal, spyware, and other issues. Helped assist with a network infrastructure upgrade that consisted in project planning, design and implementation of a HP Procurve switch that is now the main backbone connecting all the class rooms and server equipment into one main managed switch, allowing communication between the classrooms and the servers, and disabling the classrooms ability to communicate with the staff side of the network.
