Which is one of the many reasons, in 2020 we launched one of the largest, most comprehensive qualitative research studies on leadership in the safety and health profession. My background as an EHS Field Engineer with 3M, and a Master’s in Industrial Hygiene (IH) were critical to success in this role – having spent years on the frontlines prior, with a different “customer”, the 3M frontline worker. Even then, I didn’t truly understand what it meant to “partner” with the worker until sub-zero mornings on the Iron Range of MN connecting over crystalline silica with sons, fathers, and grandfathers of the same lineage, or the unbearable heat of the 2015 Iowa summer, doing whatever we could to bring relief to H5N2 clean-up workers wrapped in Tyvek from head to toe in heat indexes that would make New Orleans jealous.Highlights:Exceeded forecast each year.
