As the Operations Team Lead for ARC Resources in the fast paced Kakwa Field, my duties include but are not limited to being a leader in a dynamic environment as a key member of a cross-functional team and with continuous adherence to ARC Resources mission statement. This exciting, fast paced area, consists of mature oil and gas landscape as well as new & prosperous Monteney developments that are located approximately 75km south of Grande Prairie Alberta.Other duties include providing daily mentorship, competency training & education, monitoring production volumes and runtime efficiency. Optimizing costs, operational troubleshooting, in-still & guide new & existing operational personnel on ARC’a core values in maintaining a safe & balanced work environment. Also part of the role includes providing local & distant support supervision on any new Capital Projects or MOC work within the field. Partaking in all technical development meetings such as HazOp’s/IFC’s/IFA’s/IFR’s/DBM/Control Narratives. Working directly under the Field Foreman, taking guidance to lead by example and work with a successful team to create a balanced, safe, and prosperous work environment. Perform any & all tasks as well that are delegated from the field foreman.

Being involved in the transitional phase from start to finish (ground work, drilling, completions, construction, and all the way to production). Partaking in any & all commissioning and startup projects both new construction as well as MOC work. Guide maintenance crews, E&I work, mechanical crews, and operations in attaining a safe and successful outcome of each task. In continuation participating in all HazOp meetings, design reviews, IFA’s, IFC meetings as well. The ability to think on the spot, troubleshoot, initiate change & be patient to fine tune operations is also a daily task.

Operate & Maintain the day to day operations of a Mega Pad & Satellite Pad.

Work with the operations team at Whitecap Resources to maintain, operate, startup, and expand their Grovedale, Alberta field. The field consisted of numerous pads that held free flowing wells/pump jacks, and plunger lift wells. All these wet metered wells were sent to the main battery which had separation, treating, and compression. The gas was sent downstream to CNRL Wapiti and the condensate/oil/produced water was trucked out. Also duties included being part of startups, pre planning into expansions, turnarounds, and supervision of services providers.

Operate free flowing & plunger lift wells in the Kakwa area south of Grande Prairie, Alberta. The run consisted of numerous small pad sites (2-4) wet metered wells along with a couple field booster stations. The company had 2 remote pump jacks that required. an ATV to access and operate. These wells all flowed across to the main small gas processing plant which consisted of inlet separation, refrigeratoration/dehydration, blowcasing & storage. The raw gas was sent up to Pembina M2 for further processing.

Managing oil & gas field wells and seperation oil facilities in the Kakwa area, south of Grande Prairie. Duties include monitoring production trending on Cygnet Vision, entering work notifications into SAP Production tracker, logging information into Word & Excel files. Futhermore, the operation of field compression units and generators is a significant portion of my daily tasks. Performing preventative maitenance on all units and being attentive when field technicians are on location is crucial to maintaining and optimizing production and downtime. Pigging pipelines, chemical and batch treatment on lines/wells to prevent corrosion, scale & wax buildup, as well as hydrate prevention are another daily task. The operation of ATVs is also required with my job, going into remote access wells. More of my duties include the supervision of wireline crews, slickline crews, and other service providers being the leader and primary permit issuer/supervisor. Troubleshooting issues within the battery facility, field well location is also an activity performed daily.

Operate & Maintain gas & oil wells for CNRL ensuring production numbers are met accordingly, proper operation of equipment, operating and maintaining screw & reciprocating compression units, pressure & temperature detail, pigging & batching pipelines, locating issues, troubleshooting, and making proper safe and secure solutions. Also responsible for monitoring production on SCADA and ensuring proper production reports are created at each month end.

Operate frac & acid equipment for clients in the field. Responsibilities included rig ups & downs on lease locations throughout Alberta, Canada, ensure proper pressure requirements were made utilizing horsepower units, operation of the chemical program for each frac zone completed.Trouble shoot and fix any issues that arose throughout rig up/down and through each frac. The responsibility of coordinating the way rig ups amd downs also fell into my job scope along with driving equipment to and from location.

Participated in all DryVacs testing on location and in the lab based out of California. Travelled to and from customer locations with mobile equipment, discussed & explained the technology with prospective clients, did lab based tests for prospective clients. Travelled to California where the mobile units were fabricated to help fabricate and understand the components within the units. Went over P&ID diagrams with head engineer, involvement in corporate meetings as well.

As part of my internship for my Mechanical Engineering program I had the opportunity to work as part of the operations team based out of Nova Scotia. My responsibilities varied from the supervision of contract work being done on the lease locations to checking pressures and participating in daily operational activities. My other duties included operation of ATV's and company equipment, signage on pipeline runs, vegetation control, being part of a major Encana hot tap on the mainline, to blow downs and being involved in any construction jobs that involved the pipeline.
