I created a design company, Pixelmoves, and operated as a sole trader. The experience was valuable because I learned about how to calculate tax, registering and operating as a business, pricing, invoicing and business banking. Setting up and running Pixelmoves was a personal challenge and an excellent tool in personal development. I honed skills in prioritising work, scheduling to meet deadlines, marketing my own and client's businesses in this difficult economic climate.Creative Design Manager 2002-January 2008Niche News and Publishing Ltd, Havant. Niche produces financial magazines, websites and offers an extensive media service. The company merged with the dedicated online financial news service BestAdvice.net to become Niche News and Publishing Ltd. My role developed and I was made a manager. I was involved in interviewing new junior employees who had a limited knowledge of design when they were first employed into my team. I have introduced new processes of creating production calendars for client email scheduling, file naming for an organised business system and coordinated a monthly budget to maintain and upgrade computer systems. Key Responsibilities:Managed a team of three junior members, overseeing their training and development.Maintain and update/redesign company websites to represent the company magazine titles.Advert Design Service for external/in-house clients.
