As Quality Control Analyst I am the last person who sees a background report before it is sent to the client. I review all criminal history searches, employment information, education verifications, and information provided by the applicant, to ensure the report is accurate. During this process I must ensure we followed all applicable state and federal laws so that we are in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act. If the client has any in-house requirements I must ensure we have followed those as well. If an error is found, I correct the report by removing incorrect or non-reportable information. If a record or jurisdiction is missed, I will add the information or the jurisdiction. In all cases of an error being found, I notify the coworker that I found a mistake and keep track of it in the company's error log. As part of the quality control process, I rerun criminal history searches to verify the information we're reporting. I help determine the nature of a criminal offense, whether it belongs to our applicant, and if we can include a result in our report. This can include cross referencing results with other information we've received in some cases. Due to my experience running criminal history searches, I often answer questions from the data entry analysts conducting criminal history searches and assist them obtaining information. I have also assisted in writing, and rewriting, training manuals for criminal history searches and data entry positions.

As data entry analyst I was responsible for the conducting criminal history search component of background investigations. Using a variety of public access and privately owned records, I searched for any criminal offenses an applicant may have committed. During the search process I followed all applicable local, state, and federal laws while simultaneously following client requirements.

When our full-time business and environmental reporter left to pursue another opportunity, I moved back to the newsroom and took his place. I covered all business within Bartow County, which included expansions, new investments, the various development agencies and their meetings and features on local business owners. I kept a hand in covering local government by reporting on city council meetings and deeper coverage of actions taken. I also took photos as required. When needed, I built the daily edition and often the two weeklies: the Herald Tribune and North Bartow News. When the Daily Tribune purchased a second Glunz and Jensen Raptor 68P, I was involved in the installation. I assisted in training new production department hires and troubleshooting equipment.

After another personnel change, where the previous production manager I had worked under left the company, I was offered the position. I accepted it and became a full-time employee at the paper. I worked with a Glunz and Jensen Raptor 68P processor and an ECRM CTP. I maintained the machines and the related computers, ordered the necessary materials such as chemistry and plates and maintained the servers on a day-to-day basis. However, I relied on a parent company employee for emergency and routine tech support. I also worked in pagination, as I laid out the Herald Tribune, the weekly paper with a circulation of roughly 30,000. For this, I used QuarkXPress, which is the Daily Tribune's preferred pagination software.For approximately one and a half months I performed the job alone, working six days a week to get the paper out. The part-time employee who worked the Saturday shift quit and it took some time to find a replacement. I participated in the hiring process and later trained that replacement.

After personnel changes, I was moved out of the production department and fully into the newsroom. I continued working part time, but I was still on the city and county government beat. I covered the 2012 local elections for the paper, which included the election of the county's first new commissioner in approximately 20 years. Among the other stories I covered during this time were an in-depth electric rate increase in Cartersville, major municipality utility projects and multiple city budgets. I also covered other stories as needed, such as the groundbreaking of an Austrian auto parts manufacturer in the joint county-city industrial park, a chamber of commerce event involving Lee Greenwood and a trial involving a prisoner who assaulted another prisoner.I also learned pagination and would occasionally take on those duties and build the paper on nights when the managing editor or our part-time paginator was unable work.

During this time period I was a part-time reporter who covered local government such as city council meetings and county commissioner meetings. I worked as a general reporter who was sent on assignment when other reporters are busy with their own beats. One night a week I worked as a production assistant, where I color corrected and cropped photos, placed them on the paper and then made the plates used to print the paper itself.

I worked under the circulation editor. I was responsible for ensuring every paper carrier received the correct amount of newspapers every night. I also calculated postage for the 40,000 weekly papers we mailed once a week. I also ran a newspaper delivery route once a week.
