Wasilla High School

Principal of Wasilla High School, a comprehensive high school in the Mat-Su Borough School District. In 2022, Wasilla High School became the only NC3 (National Coalition of Certification Centers) Leadership school in the state of Alaska. Students have access to real-world, industry recognized certifications Currently, over 400 certifications have been administered to students in Tormach, Greenlee, Kubota, Snap-on and Starrett. Additionally, since 2021 access to Advanced Placement courses has increased tenfold. In 2021, 57 students took an AP test. In 2024, 499 students are enrolled in at least one AP class and 757 AP tests will be administered this year. 61% of our student population is taking an AP class - a record number. Finally, graduation rate is 93%, also a historically high number.

Burchell High School

Principal of Burchell High School, an alternative school in the Mat-Su Borough School District. In 2017-2018, Burchell High School became a Summit Learning school. BHS is part of the 3rd cohort of schools in the United States to implement this platform for student-driven learning. In SY 2017-18, Summit Learning students were in the 90th percentile for growth in Math and Reading as measured by MAP testing in the MSBSD. MAP scores for students in SY 2018-2019 for Reading were the highest in growth for the MSBSD. Increased graduation rate in four years from 28% to 70%.

Burchell High School

Wasilla High School

Open format classroom that encourages Socratic seminar style thinking and learning.

Colony Middle School

Involved in staff development: led Instructional Tours as well as taught a PLC (Professional Learning Community) called Seeking the Self in Literature: Higher Order Thinking in the Secondary Classroom. Classroom duties include teaching 8th grade honors English and 8th grade Language Arts. Open format classroom that encourages Socratic seminar style thinking and learning.

Palmer High School

Taught 9-12 English. Courses taught: 9th grade FW English, 10th grade Honors English, Contemporary Literature and Creative Writing. Open classroom format that provides quality student/teacher interaction.

Wasilla High School

Taught 9-12 grade English. Courses taught: Creative Writing, English 1, English 2, English 3 and Contemporary Literature. Served as the head boys basketball coach.

Taught 10-12 grade English. Courses included: Humanities, College Prep, Junior Honors English.
