Jay Milde joined Smart Outdoor as a partner and a member of the board of directors in 2020. Jay serves as Smart Outdoor's Director of Mobile Engagement.Outside of Smart Outdoor, Jay has spent much of his career working in public education and private camping. Jay is a graduate of Quinnipiac University and The University of Edinburgh and he holds a BA in History, an MA in Teaching and an MS in History. Currently, Jay works full-time as the Associate Director and Director of Staffing at Breezemont Day Camp in Armonk, NY, where he oversees staffing and programing. Jay is excited to bring his technical prowess along with his knowledge and experience of the parks and recreation industry to the table of Smart Outdoor.

Taught United States History to 7th grade students. Incorporated technology and 21st Century Skills into lessons. Integral member of Strategic Coherence Planning Committee, Social Studies Curriculum, IEP, PPT and SRBI meetings. Additionally, collaborated with special education staff, social workers, guidance counselors, administrators, teachers, students and parents.Member of the Connecticut Council for the Social Studies. Nominated for Teacher of the Year in 2016/17.

Managed a staff of 30; tasked with youth development programming and overseeing 100+ campers aged 12-15.

Appointed to oversee the recruitment program. Liaison between chapter and national organization.

Coordinated large corporate outings involving use of grounds, facilities, outside contractors and a staff of 25.

Managed a staff of 30 tasked with executing daily programming within the scope of weekly themes.

Worked as the sole graduate intern to oversee day to day museum operations. Additionally, created the curriculum for various groups of visiting guests; primarily student groups from local high schools, colleges and universities.

Student taught 8th grade social studies with Paul Bogush. Full year intern who taught lessons in a broad range of curricula. Incorporated technology in lessons and was a part of PD, data teams, EIP, IEP and PPT meetings. Conducted action research in connection with the MAT program at Quinnipiac.
