Work on contract basis maintaining and enhancing an existing Ruby on Rails application used for online publishing. Tasks have included lacing application code in a version control system using Git and Beanstalk, establishing a deployment strategy using Capistrano along with setting up, installing and optimizing the application, database and dependencies on a new server. Currently in the process of upgrading the application from Rails 2.3 to 3.2.

Created and maintained a Ruby on Rails application for a start-up weekly newspaper which included article posting and display, user registration, image upload capabilities, social networking campaigns and PayPal integration for subscription payments. Also oversaw the design and production of the printed product and advertising sales along with general office management.

Duties included shooting, editing, captioning and submitting daily assignments. Also served as assistant photo editor, coordinating coverage of news events and other requests, management of images submitted by staff photographers, freelancers and other sources to ensure proper usage in publication and the processing of images for production. Gained experience setting up and shooting with studio equipment as well as location lighting. Maintained an archive of digital images shot while on assignments.
