A 2017 graduate of Le Moyne College, I currently work at Carpenter Mfg. Co., Inc., a small original equipment manufacturer in Manlius, New York. We are the leading United States manufacturer of wire processing equipment, designing and manufacturing each product from our New York factory.I currently manage all materials and inventory for Carpenter, seeking to maximize the quality of our finished products while also minimizing costs and avoiding supply chain disruptions. Since I started with Carpenter, I have driven a complete overhaul of the purchasing and inventory philosophies and strategies. We have since benefited from substantial cost savings, material improvements, and much more efficient supply chain networks. If a better solution exists, I will aggressively research it and pursue it.Maintaining bills of materials for thousands of original parts may be daunting, but it is a challenge I enjoy. I am tasked with keeping accurate the bills of materials for all current and future parts. Upon the completion of each machine shop job I verify the accuracy of the bill of materials. If there are changes to be made, I consult with members of our shop staff and with our lead engineer. Once the changes are agreed upon, it is my responsibility to update our enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. When our engineering staff creates new parts, I am responsible for their seamless addition to our ERP system.I have more recently focused on expanding the overall reach of Carpenter, helping to develop the business during rapid industry change. I suggest and help implement major improvements and additions to the company website; provide creative and detailed ideas to our sales department to help drive sales; work daily with the company president to suggest ideas for considerable improvement; and complete a number of other tasks designed at growing the company and its presence in the wire processing industry.
