I have worked in the Building Services sector for over 15 years, having previously worked as a drainage design consultant at Elkington Gatic for 7 years. Starting from the beginning of my career I have made it my life goal to keep learning, building strong foundations that have in turn allowed me to progress into new and more challenging job roles. I am proud of my achievements and experiences so far that have made me who I am today. With my award of a First Class Honours Degree in Building Services Engineering, I am hoping to eventually work towards my CIBSE Chartership.I enjoy helping people and live by the philosophy that anything is possible, you just need an idea and a great team to help achieve it!

Drainage ConsultantElkington Gatic Jun 2000 - Aug 2007Dover, KentI worked in the technical office and have experience of over 350 projects of various sizes during my time here. Projects were sent to me at design stage from architects and I used my knowledge to advise and provide surface water drainage solutions for them. I used AutoCAD regularly to calculate surface areas and using our drainage software I could calculate the size of channel required for a number of variables such as storm flow return periods based upon location, surface permeability, attenuation, hydrobrakes and syphonic situations. The client would be sent a fully marked up drawing showing the optimum location of the drainage channels with outlet/accesspoint locations and supporting hydraulic calculations modelling the channel capacity under the situation requested. I worked regularly from the office in Dover and occasionally visited clients onsite to provide further help and technical support with project changes or installation issues. Once our product had been specified on a project I would create a bill of quantities that would go through to sales for a quotation to be produced. The channel and covers were manufactured in the factory below our office and I also liaised with the production manager, workers and haulage firms to ensure deliveries were met on time and that jobs were prioritised during busy periods, making sure the client/contractor was fully informed at all times.
