I am a recent Chemical Engineering graduate from Lakehead University and a Chemical Engineering Technology graduate from NAIT.As a summer student at the AER I take pride and enjoyment in working with very knowledgeable and driven individuals. I am highly motivated and very interested in my field of work. I have been told that "attitude will take you to the altitude" and I firmly believe that showing up to work with a positive attitude is crucial for success. What I find interesting about the AER is how the company collaborates with industry and government to responsibly develop hydrocarbon resources for the benefit of all Albertans.

Industrial Engineering Summer StudentAlberta Energy Regulator (Aer) May 2017 - Aug 2017Edmonton, Canada AreaI worked in the Authorizations branch. My job was to familiarize myself with the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (EPEA) and apply it to sour gas plant applications, renewals, and amendments. I also processed registrations for hydrostatic testing and NOx emitting units by referring to the code of practice (COP).Although my team primarily dealt with the midstream stream sector, I have brought it upon myself to learn about the different sectors of oil and gas from colleagues outside my team. I excel in working in groups and put my full effort in each task.I have attended many educational site visits, some being tank farms and sour gas plants, thus giving me a first hand understanding of its units and processes. Sulphur recovery is an important process that AER regulates, therefore I have familiarized myself with the Claus process, LO-CAT, sulphur flaring, and various other methods for sulphur recovery and removal. -
Operator Field PlacementShell Aug 2015 - Sep 2015Fort SaskatchewanAt Shell Scotford I was given the opportunity to work along side operators in and out of the control room for the refinery. I got hands on experience on tasks that operators do daily such as morning inspections of units, collecting samples for lab testing, operating Honeywell control systems, writing permits, going to team meetings, and various other tasks. My position at shell gave my a great insight on refinery processes. I am able to see how each unit is interconnected on a real and grand scale as opposed to just looking at a refinery process in a textbook at school. -
