Responsible for all finance-related activity of Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, a 923-bed campus serving Northern Virginia and the Washington, D.C. metro area. The campus includes Inova Fairfax Hospital, Inova Heart & Vascular Institute, Inova Schar Cancer Institute, Inova Neurosciences Institute, Inova Children's Hospital and Inova Women's Hospital. The campus is also home to Northern Virginia's only Level 1 Trauma Center and offers organ transplant programs for Heart, Lung, Kidney and Pacreas.Responsible for a $1.8 billion revenue budget and a $1.7 billion expense budget. Oversee revenue cycle functions along with cost management. Manage a staff of 4 directors and 10 staff who are responsible for annual budgets, monthly close, capital, pro formas, productivity, service line reporting, and much more.Work closely with hospital leadership (President, COO, CMO, CFO, CNO) and service line leadership.

Oversight of Finance/Budget, Registration/Patient Access, Supply Chain, Medical Records and IT. As a part of the administrative team, focus not only on the financial performance of the hospital, but also revenue cycle and the impact of support services on patient safety, patient satisfaction and quality outcomes.

Direct oversight of all financial operations of the hospital including annual budget, rolling quarterly forecast, month-end close, revenue cycle, productivity, capital planning and tracking, service line analysis, pro forma financial statements for new business/business expansion/new equipment, and cost savings. Highlights include: - Led the successful go-live of Epic from a revenue integrity perspective. Managed a team of 10 staff and dropped bills on day 5 post go-live. - Worked with senior leadership and clinical leaders to achieve a $14M improvement in operating income from 2013 to 2014. - Worked with senior leadership and clinical leaders to achieve a reduction in Pd Hrs/EA of 12, resulting in $7.4M in cost savings. - Achieved revenue cycle improvement that saw all major metrics (Days in A/R, Denial W/Os, BWIP and net revenue-to-cash) at an all-time low at the end of 2014. - Led system revenue cycle improvement team that reduced days from 49 to 45.

• Manage staff of 3 analysts and provide a variety of finance services for the hospital.• Manage monthly close process, including reviewing and analyzing net revenue and expenses of the hospital, as well as communicating results to hospital and system leadership.• Direct oversight of capital process, including planning, reviewing, and tracking routine capital requests of $30-$60 million annually.• Support Emergency Services, along with the Transplant, Neuroscience and Trauma service lines.o Budget preparation, G/L variance analysis, service line, profitability and trending analysis.o Work closely with Administrators, Sr. Directors, and service line leaders on service line profitability, including accurate and timely charging, cost control and staff utilization.• Prepare pro forma financial statements and NPV analysis for strategic capital requests.• Oversight of accounting for physician practices prior to creation of separate entity.• Oversight of daily reporting of key hospital statistics to hospital and system leaders.

• Managed and coordinated preparation of monthly internal consolidated financial statements, including board and finance/audit committee reporting.• Managed the external financial reporting including GAAP audit, retirement and benefit plans from planning to report issuance.• Primary audit liaison for external audits.• Direct oversight of the accounting of system office functional areas (~$100 million) and communicating results to system executives.• Played an integral role in adding efficiencies to the month-end close process, reducing the process from 7 to 5 business days.• Served as Hyperion Administrator for the system. This included managing the day-to-day operations of all aspects of Hyperion Enterprise and Hyperion Retrieve including end-user training.• Worked closely with Corporate Controller on three tax-exempt bond financings totaling $380 million.• In conjunction with bond financings, provided information to rating agencies (S&P and Moody’s), underwriters (Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs), bond counsel and trustees.• Assisted Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis in completing Inova’s five-year capital and fiscal plan including income statements, cash flows, balance sheets and financial and operating indicators.• Managed the accounting and reporting of executive compensation plans.
