Commissioning and startup for Process Water Recovery subunit in the refinery's gasification unit. Responsibilities involved: procedure writing and redlining; supported commissioning of Bitumen A&V unit; Carbon Black trial run for filter press; specialty in MPG Gasification and belt thickener filter press operation using polymers for solids flocculation and filtration; industrial refrigeration using R290 refrigerant; Rectisol absorber unit using Methanol to selectively absorb H2S and CO2 from gas streams; CO Water/Gas Shift and Methanation reactions. . Experience in water filtration using polymers and physical filtration media; absorber towers; Syngas and pure oxygen handling; R290 refrigeration; Rectisol, Vacuum Residue and other heavy oil handling as feedstock for gasification.

Operator at CNOOC (formerly Nexen) Long Lake in the Asphaltene Gasification Unit for the Pressure Swing Adsorption and Filter Press subunits. Worked in pressure swing adsorption to separate H2 from CO and H2S in process gas for use in hydrocracking, as well as carbon /solids filtration using plate-and-frame filter presses to separate solids from procrss water. The process water was then recycled in various plant processes. Prior to that I, as a student, operated in the Utilities and Offsides unit. Responsibilities involved operating two D-type water-tube boilers, daily samples and blowdowns, routine CBD adjustment, laboratory tests, and tank swings as required for overall upgrader operation.

Operated coke-fired boilers using traditional coal-handling systems, including coal belt trippers, crushers, ball mills, electro-static precipitators; fluid gas deaulphurizing via limestone jet bubbling reactors, water treatment with reverse osmosis, multimedia filters, fluid bed clarifiers, and Zeeweed membrane filters.
