Protégé Energy III LLC is a private equity backed oil and gas exploration company founded in September of 2013. I started at Protégé in November 2013 as the 7th employee. I was hired with the title of Operations Manager, but at that time we did not yet own any assets so I worked evaluating acquisition opportunities. At that time, we were primarily focused on Appalachian shale gas plays (Utica and Marcellus). I evaluated reserves potential, estimated development costs, and performed economic analysis on a wide range of different investment opportunities. By January 2014 we began leasing Utica Shale acreage in Washington County, Ohio. Once we began leasing, my role began to shift toward more of an operational focus. As the only operations engineer at the company at that time, I performed all of the regulatory, drill site selection, oversight of civil engineering and construction of well site, well construction engineering/planning, production facility design, and production engineering for our first Utica horizontal well. This well spud in July 2015 and was flow tested in November of the same year. In August 2016, Protégé acquired a ~25,000 net acre Eagle Ford shale asset in South Texas with gross operated production of 4,000 bpd oil and 21 MMscfpd of gas. I hired 15 field employees and 1 production engineer to operate this new asset. My operations team has drilled and completed 33 horizontal Eagle Ford and Austin Chalk wells and grown gross operated production to a peak of 9,500 bpd oil and 32 MMscfpd of gas from 130 active wells. We have installed our own saltwater gathering and disposal facility and injection well and built out numerous other production handling facilities to support our production growth. We have successfully absorbed production operations and new resource development on several follow-on acquisitions complimentary to our core Eagle Ford position.

Upon graduating with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering in May 2006, I started with Samson as a Production Engineer in the Anadarko Basin responsible for 250 operated and 500 non-operated wells. I forecasted reserves and operating expenses, monitored well performance, and performed engineering and economic justification of well intervention projects to repair wells or enhance their performance. Promoted to District Engineer in January 2008 and assigned to be Asset Engineer for the Douglass Field in East Texas. In this role, I worked on a team drilling 80-90 vertical Travis Peak wells per year. I was primarily responsible for project management, performance tracking, economic evaluation, forecasting reserves, and selection of drilling locations. In December 2008 I joined a newly formed team to work the Haynesville Shale play. There I performed reservoir engineering analysis on various tracts of company owned acreage in the play and led presentations to management recommending drilling opportunities. I engineered the completions on the first ~10 horizontal Haynesville wells drilled by Samson in North Louisiana. In March 2010 the Haynesville team was re-organized and I was assigned to the Horizontal Completions Team which was created to improve execution of horizontal completions and major workovers through increased technical rigor. In November 2010, I was promoted to Senior District Engineer and moved back to the Anadarko Basin to assist in developing the Granite Wash reservoir horizontally. I was Asset Engineer for Hemphill and Wheeler Counties responsible for reserves, economics, well completions, and generating new drilling locations on company acreage. In March 2012, I was promoted to Team Manager of East TX Oil/Shale Ventures Team. Last assignment starting in early 2013 was managing an acquisitions team – we made bid recommendations to Executive Team on 4 different large Eagle Ford deals.
