Skills and Abilities• Ability to use Caterpillar Electronic Technician, SIS and VIMS software• Ability to use Cummins Quickserve • Work supervised or unsupervised and with teams or alone• Technically manage plant maintenance staff on project sites• Amend stock levels and request new stock items• Ensure procedures for maintenance and stores are followed• Report daily and weekly to management• Get plant fleet to an acceptable level of mechanical availability • Manage plant repairs in accordance with the approved plant budget.• Report to line on a monthly basis in regards to cost and performance of all items of plant.• Optimize purchasing of spare parts and consumables.• Interface with OEM equipment suppliers and service providers.• Assist with preparation of trades personal or service training.• Input on tender preparation plant selection and costing.• Ensure that all relevant safety health and environmental standards, legislation and client requirements are met.• Work in conjunction senior management and other departments to improve or establish better plant and equipment utilization and planning controls.• Establish and maintain an effective expatriate and national workforce to enable plant maintenance performance levels to be achieved and improved• Work with departments to develop a complete system of plant control and performance management• Establish and implement detailed planning for short term, long term, defects repairs and maintenance.• At all times maintain safety standards of equipment and personnel within the workshop, yard areas and whilst working on plant in the field.• Prepare daily, weekly status reports including planned maintenance and repair status of equipment.• Establish safe working procedures for all work areas and jobs to be carried out on or around plant and equipment and the environment.
