From the second I was able to hold a pencil in my hands, I’ve wanted to create something amazing. Suffice to say that a lot has changed since then, but that one, unwavering goal has lingered in my mind to this very day. So, won’t you join me in this exploration of who I turned out to be? In May of 2024, after four years and dozens of sleepless nights, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, with a Bachelor of Arts in communication, having also earned the university’s film studies certificate. I used this time to hone my skills in a number of fields, most prominent of which being screenwriting, film and video editing, TV production, and videography.I could talk anyone’s ear off about how much I adore screenwriting, worldbuilding, hell, even the revision process. In the summer of 2024, I submitted my first ever feature-length screenplay, titled “On that Distant Horizon”, to ScreenCraft’s Sci-Fi & Fantasy Screenplay Competition. In addition to this, I am currently in the process of drafting my first attempts at writing television pilots, including two comedies and a horror drama, further wading into the waters of the art form that I love.It wouldn’t be a full dissection of my life if I didn’t divulge my experience as a filmmaker; I have written, edited, and directed numerous short films, documentaries, video essays, and even an amateur animation project. I was awarded UMass Amherst’s Communication Award for Best Audio/Visual Work, the Michael S. Roif awards for Best Animation and Best Film Essay, as well as 2nd place for Best Desktop Filmmaking and Best Festival Work. During my time at UMass, I was obsessed with the intricate technical and mechanical process of production work. So much so, in fact, that I worked with one of my professors to found the university’s TV production internship, working alongside both communication and journalism faculty members, working extensively with audio, lighting, camera management, and all the fix-ins that go into every production.
