My duties as the packaging and shipping manager are vast. One of the key aspects is to plan and schedule jobs and personnel in these departments to meet our shipping orders and packaging efficiencies while maintaining the highest of sanitation and quality levels. Motivating the employees in a positive manner is of course included in this. I am a part of the interviewing and hiring of new employees, as well as discipline and termination when necessary. Secondary to this is ease the pressure on our small maintenance department by learning the machines and performing as much of the routine maintenance and fixes as possible. I deal with the logistics department at our corporate offices several times a week as well to maintain proper inventory levels. Last minute changes to weekly orders and shipping numbers are common and flexibility in my department to accommodate these changes is a must. As a working supervisor, it is also my responsibility to help in the work groups when needed. I have truly enjoyed this position and if not for our closure, I would not be seeking other employment.

My first years here were spent in the cheese production department. My responsibilities included duties as a cheese filler, milk receiver, lift truck driver, cheese maker, and filling extra time in the maintenance department welding, doing machine maintenance, and general building maintenance. I left this position to accept a manager role within the company.
