Jason is a Senior Executive specialising in major infrastructure master planning, sustainability, project approvals and corporate advisory with 30 years' experience. In December 2022 he transitioned to the National Transport Research Organisation (NTRO) in the role of Executive Director (Ports & Airports).He holds both a Bachelor of Urban & Regional Planning and a Master of Science (Environmental Management). He has also recently completed Sustainability Executive Education with Cambridge University.Over the last 22 years he has specialised in the Port Sector - focusing on master / precinct planning, major project approvals, sustainability & governance - including 10 years in a management role at the Port of Brisbane - and 11 years managing his private consultancy - Sprott Planning & Environment.Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to improved development outcomes.Jason has travelled extensively and spoken at international conferences across Europe, Asia, the Pacific, North America, the UK, USA and the the Middle East.He is currently leading a major infrastructure program in the Kingdom of Tonga across road, maritime and aviation sectors. In 2011 Jason researched at the global port cities of Singapore, Shanghai, Rotterdam, London, New York, Seattle, Vancouver & Los Angeles as part his ‘Sir Winston Churchill Fellowship’.He has attended recent Greenport Congresses in Amsterdam (2017), Baltimore (2018), Oslo (2019) and Bruges (2022) as well as the United Nations meeting in Geneva in March 2019 - focused on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.He has authored key national guidelines on 'Port Master Planning', ‘Port & Supply Chain Protection' and 'Sustainability Strategy Development'.He is currently a Board Member of ‘Reef Catchments’ - an NRM Group for the Mackay, Whitsunday & Isaac Region in Central Queensland, and The National Asset Centre of Excellence (NACOE). He was a Board Member of PIANC Australia for 4 years (2014-2018) and served on international technical working groups.
