In 2005, after six years as an Army Logistics Specialist, my life changed when I was selected for recruiting duty (Hiring Counselor). My first thought was “I’m not doing this; not what I signed up for; choose someone else.” Turns out, the Army knew best. Little did I know how much I would love the job and the satisfaction one feels for helping an individual change their life. For this reason, in 2007 I choose to stay in the Recruiting Command for the remainder of my career. One of the highlights of my career and one of the most challenging was when I was assigned as the District Manager in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Not only was I in the city of my favorite NFL team (Please don’t hold this against me), I was given the honor to manage my own district. When I took over the district it was struggling to make their assigned mission ranking 15 out of 16 in the region. Through team work, training, market analysis, effective use of resources, and collaboration we ended up as the number 1 district in the region.
