Public Safety It Manager
CurrentManage and implement day-to-day activities and operational administration of large scale law enforcement systems. This includes Police CAD, Police RMS, Case Management, Police Jail Management, Police Document Imaging, Police Digital Mugshot, Automated Citation, Property Room (Barcode) management, and separate Police/Fire Automated Scheduling systems. I manage a staff of three I.T. Analysts, that provide I.T. services for over 300 employees. I’m responsible for planning and management of the Public Safety Systems Group’s annual budget, to include management of annual maintenance and service contracts. I provide technology support associated with the selection, purchasing, and maintenance of dispatch center equipment, this includes ergonomic dispatch workstations, computerized radio control consoles, digital “ready-recall” recorders and digital voice recording equipment. I manage the mobile automation equipment which includes 140 Mobile Data Computers (MDC) and a police field automation project that provides over 175 laptop computers to be used by patrol officers. I have experience with UNIX and Windows operating systems, COBOL, Oracle and MS SQL, Crystal Reports, Oracle Discover, ESRI ArcView/ArcInfo, Verizon broadband networks, Motorola RSS, Motorola MOSCAD, and Motorola RD-LAP. I coordinate and manage radio equipment/service resources with San Bernardino County’s radio communications system. I manage the budget and coordinate the annual retirement of old patrol vehicles along with the assembly and configuration of new police vehicles. I assist the Police Finance Manager with the management of state and federal grants associated with automation projects. I interact with the Communications Manager and Records Manager on a variety of procedural issues.
