Prior to my decision to form Buildcost, I was employed as Senior Quantity Surveyor in charge of projects across a number of different sectors.

I worked as a Quantity Surveyor for Kerrigan Sheanon Newman on a variety of Public and Private sector construction projects. I gained a wide range of experience in industrial, commercial, retail, mixed use developments, residential, fit-outs, project monitoring projects, conservation projects and civil projects.I provided procurement advice, insolvency services and full construction cost management services to Clients.I gained a wealth of experience on large scale construction projects with a value of €50-€200 million at Master Planning, Bid & Planning Stages for example Liffey Valley Shopping Centre Phase 2, Cork Marina Development and Ceannt Station Galway.I had the responsibility for advising and assisting the Design Teams and Clients on the overall cost and viability of these projects at a very early stage in the design process and I encouraged the implementation of Value Engineering Processes. I was involved in numerous conciliation and arbitration cases in which I was tasked with providing impartial expert advice on cost and contractual issues that have arisen on a particular project.

My position in Rogerson Reddan & Associates briefly involved the following:-carrying out feasibility studies and preparing cost plans-measurement of Bills of Quantites-preparing tender documents-preparing monthly recommendations-attending design team and site meetings-agreeing final accounts-bank monitoringWhile working in this position I was involved in projects which were procured using Construction Management. I was based on site full time for periods at a time. I was responsable for procuring the various packages for these projects and gained some experience in project management and site management.During my time in Rogerson Reddan & Associates I gained a vast amount of experience and expertise in Conservation & Restoration projects for example Hugh Lane Gallery and Nr 5 South Leinster Street
