Manages and oversees the day-to-day leadership, team-building and professional development for Georgia Power’s Generation Security Team of approximately 50-armed, uniformed security personnel to provide 24/7/365 access control and armed force protection for high-security, restricted access power-generation facilities across Georgia. Management level responsibility for annual physical and (limited) physical security compliance activities (EPA inspections, DHS inspections, Maritime Security, CFATS). In addition to managing the daily activities of this team, implements related policies, procedures and guidelines and represent the department on system security initiatives and committees and perform special projects as required. Responsible for managing broader Corporate Security Department activities as directed in the absence of higher levels of Corporate Security leadership, as approved by the Corporate Security Director. Ensures continuous alignment with the strategic objectives of Corporate Security leadership’s strategy, goals, and priorities. Ensures that the Generation Security Team maintains continuous proficiency to utilize strong, critical thinking skills to identify and assess suspicious activity and security incidents at power generation facilities. Establishes processes and identifies tools for efficient collection and dissemination of data related to incidents that occur at GPC’s power generation facilities.

As a Staff Investigator, I serve as a team lead for investigative services to Georgia Power, Southern Company and other company operations in response to violations of Federal, State, local laws, regulatory mandates and company policies. Serves as a team lead for investigations, as well as, being responsible for investigating property crimes, financial crimes / frauds, crimes of violence as well as conspiracy to commit these offenses against Georgia Power / Southern Company assets. Responsible for investigating internal concerns, at the request of executive management, when there are questions pertaining to circumstances that might be associated with gross misconduct that could result in serious discipline, termination and/or criminal/civil prosecution. Conducts physical security surveys to identify and mitigate exposures that could compromise Georgia Power/Southern Company assets. Collects and analyzes information to resolve investigations as well as prepares written reports that include investigative findings and recommendations. Follows investigations through prosecution when applicable, including testifying in court. Assist Work Place Ethics, Law Enforcement and other Governmental Agencies to ensure company integrity and safety. Identifies and analyzes investigative trends to propose solutions with corporate wide impact to company executives. Constantly provides threat assessment, mitigation strategies and executive protection to company executives. Training team lead for firearms, workplace violence and active shooter training for certified security personnel and makes sure all state mandates are met.Emergency Storm Response Team Lead. Manages security team for emergency response due to natural disasters. Coordinates logistics for 24hr security coverage for company personnel all over the United States. Identifies resources and coordinates with local law enforcement or other governing body to facilitate restoration and security to the assigned area.

Conduct investigations of derogatory information developed during pre-employment backgrounds, substantial authority backgrounds, NERC backgrounds, and employee reporting of arrest; facilitate in the evaluation of an applicant and/or employee’s integrity; maintain appropriate level of confidentiality when dealing with investigations; collaborate with the Southern Company Concerns Program to investigate violations of company policy; conduct interviews of current employees and/or pre-employment applicants regarding assigned investigations; show respect to current employees/applicants during times of questionable integrity; summarize the results of investigations in report form, written in a concise, detailed format; adhere to “Southern Style” expectations; member of the Safety Leadership Team for the Southern Company building.

Examine Crime Scenes to obtain clues and evidence; obtain and secure all evidence relating to cases; interview and arrest suspects involved in violations of state law; record the process of investigations, maintain informational files on suspects, and submit reports to commanding officer(s); analyze police reports to determine what additional information and investigative work is needed; provide testimony and assist the courts as a witness for the prosecution of offenders; develop contacts and assist outside agencies with investigations.

Answered calls for assistance and made arrests when necessary; served on the DUI Task Force to stop and arrest impaired drivers; as a Grant Writer, prepared documents for College Park Police Department to receive federal and state funding.
