The exact communications protocol was designed by the EZ-Logic's firmware developers, and the desktop application made use of numerous multi-byte binary commands for the purposes of configurations and diagnostics. The desktop application, device hardware, and firmware were all developed in parallel by three separate teams in a coordinated effort. As the hardware and firmware matured in advance of the launch date, so did the desktop application. This sometimes implied unexpected changes as the underlying communications protocol evolved. The desktop application was completed to Hytrol's satisfaction, and on time for the launch of the EZ-Logic Gen3 platform.
