• Daily monitoring and maintenance of over 100 servers• Plan and expand current service offerings.• Provide Tier 2 support via telephone, e-mail, knowledge base program and other tools.• Test and apply new software and maintenance patches, including patch management services.• Complete security audits on a routine basis.• Manage Tomcat/Apache services for use by the Application Support and Development teams• Manage all underlying Linux services related to servers for Oracle Databases, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Linux-based printing• Administer monitoring software for use by all IS Departments to monitor servers, applications, file mounts, availability etc.• Administer and upgrade load balancing hardware/software for use by all IS departments• Perform other duties as assigned.

Working within a team, this position is responsible for implementing and providing primary support for test and development environments; virtual and physical, locally-hosted and remote. The Systems Engineer also works in a collaborative manner with other teams to deliver effective project work, technical assistance and support; and participates in the 24x7 on-call support rotations for client facing production systems. -Install, maintain and administer system software Linux environment-Install and configure third party and custom application components-Provide first-level support for Linux-based IS development and test environments, including end user support and problem triage/escalation-Provide support to Linux-based partner-facing production environments, including being part of the 24x7 on-call rotation-Comply with of NWEA security procedures regarding system and data access-Implement solutions designed by senior engineers and architects-Provide training and instruction to NWEA staff on support systems-Keep abreast of technical knowledge needed to support new and upgraded equipment, software, and systems. -Work with other IS Engineers and staff on a project level basis.-Perform other work as assigned to ensure the success of the team and the entire organization-Communicate effectively with other team members to ensure alignment of work efforts-Develop and foster strong working relationships with partners and staff
