EV Underground is an automotive shop specializing in converting internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to electric drive. As the Lead Technician, I am responsible for several areas, including:• perform design work using a variety of traditional and computer-based tools• remove combustion engine components and integrate EV components into existing ICE chassis• mechanical installation, electrical integration and appropriate configuration of low-voltage and high-voltage EV components• field inquiries from potential clients and provide support to existing customers• source all components used in a build and manage relations with a diverse vendor network• consult with outside contractors in a variety of industries for specialized work

• Oversee operation of production cells responsible for controls and console products• Work with Engineering team to identify and resolve production issues• Process returns and perform repairs as necessary• Maintain production cell workstations

• Assemble, test and troubleshoot a variety of specialised devices manufactured in-house• Consult schematics to identify and diagnose faulty circuits or failed components• Complete PCB repair and component replacement by hand or using rework station• Perform higher-level troubleshooting of Linux-based embedded systems through terminal connection • Ensure production quality standards are met in both mechanical assembly and component performance

• Diagrammed/documented system layouts, including component selection and network topology• Maintained database files containing parts inventory and generated reports from this database• Assisted with creation of touchscreen-based user-experience in automation demo room• Performed text and graphical updates for client’s Flash-based digital signage network

Along with project co-lead Brian Fryer, conceptualized, designed and built a covered parking/charging space for campus and community e-bike riders which is completely powered by renewable electricity.

• Monitoring campus computer labs, ensuring their proper use and general upkeep• Performing password resets and assisting students with portal/email/Blackboard access • Providing general support for wireless, printing and other technical problems• Logging service calls and forwarding unresolved issues to system administrators as necessary

Was consulted by and performed research for the Electric Vehicle Readiness Project - a project aiming to implement a network of electric vehicle charging stations (EVSEs) throughout the City of Kingston. My role consisted of:• Serving as the technical lead - educating non-technical teammates on the technology • Performing feasibility studies of proposed locations• Investigating permitting issues and best practices for installation

• Troubleshoot and monitor a campus-wide distribution of A/V equipment, both in person and remotely• Perform A/V equipment installations/repairs as necessary• Shoot, edit and package video for DVD or web distribution• Effectively manage a high volume of technical data and process this information to identify patterns and possible areas of improvement• Set up and operate audiovisual/presentation equipment for campus special events

• Perform or assist with the installation of low voltage, signal-based equipment such as speakers, head units and remote starters as well as high power units such as inverters and amplified subwoofer systems into automotive vehicles• Fabricate custom panels or enclosures from metal, wood and plastic using power and air tools• Work safely in a shop environment and around automotive (primarily 12V) electrical systems
