Soccer Referee

Current

Illinois

Officiating indoor and outdoor matches that range from youth, high school, college, and semi-pro. I know. I'm a glutton for punishment, but at the end of the day I love the sport and I enjoy being able to play a small part in helping humans become better humans on the pitch - whether that be teaching kiddos or mentoring and learning from my fellow officials.

Feb 2013 - Present

Executive Director Of The Historic Fischer Theatre

Danville, Illinois

I was given the leadership opportunity (and challenge) of a lifetime of taking the Historic Fischer Theatre from a half-restored landmark with hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt obligations (and little to no cash position) and turn it into a viable operation, allowing the Vermilion Heritage Foundation to begin to operate and continue to restore the Fischer. The goal - avoid bankruptcy within the first six months. I became the only employee, had a board and volunteers to work with, and a community that hoped for our success but wasn’t counting on it. And then a global pandemic was added to the list of obstacles to the success of the project.I am proud to say that during my roughly five year tenure VHF and the Fischer Theatre survived the impossible and became a leader in our community. We grew into a stable operation that was positioned to continue to grow responsibly. Under my direction the Fischer became a hub for the arts in our community for EVERYONE, and became a leading driver of economic development in Danville.I created and negotiated contracts, wrote grants, raised money, led a team, a board, and a community. I also cleaned the bathrooms when needed. I did a lot, and I loved it. When handed a pandemic in our early phases we worked with public health professionals to identify and make the most of our opportunities - earning a national award for partnering with public health officials and the National Guard to turn the Fischer into a mass vaccination clinic. Everything is an opportunity with the right attitude and, even then, we moved forward.I remain passionate about the mission and proud that I played a part in making this dream a reality. Historic preservation. Creating access to the arts for our whole community. Economic development. One role allowed me to do so much. My team, our hundreds of volunteers, and our supporters are what made this possible. For this I will be incredibly proud and remain eternally grateful!
