Directed the Internet Tobacco Vendors Study, a large-scale national R01 study of the sales and marketing practices of websites selling tobacco products. The study assessed compliance with new and forthcoming federal regulations affecting these sales, with a focus on reductions in tax evasion and youth access. Also directed the Internet Alcohol Vendors Study, an R21 study evaluating youth exposure to online alcohol marketing and the extent to which young drinkers procure alcohol from online vendors. Managed a team consisting of full-time, part-time, and graduate student research assistants. Designed and implemented creative and innovative technology solutions to address unique challenges associated with collecting internet-based data.

Reviewed business plans for Local Management Entities to assess level of understanding and current provision of EBPs. Evaluated plans for gaps in service and description of how monitoring and technical assistance of EBPs would be carried out in their provider network.

This position was located in the Training and Development Department within the Department of Human Resources. Managed educational benefit programs for university employees such as tuition waiver and dependent scholarship programs. Managed free course offerings taught by trainers in the department. Oriented new University employees.

Implemented policies and procedures of the state of North Carolina’s voluntary shared leave program for the university.
