I manage a team of 13 people whose remit it is to develop and support two of our three key editorial systems, which is used by nearly 2,000 staff working on nine national newspapers, three national magazines and 110 regional newspapers. My team also provides 2nd line support for over 1,200 Apple workstations across the group. I've been heavily involved in major editorial transformational projects most recently with recent group acquisitions including Local World and Northern Shell.

As a line manager my role was instrumental in expanding the services the team offers and the projects it was involved in. I delivered major projects to add value to the business and its proposition. I also maintained a hands-on support role for Trinity Mirror national and regional titles.I line managed a team which sat between editorial and IT offering services to both areas of the businesswith expert knowledge in editorial workflows. We provided first- and second-line support for 400+ editorial users, both local and remote, on Mac OS X and Windows. The team also supplemented local IT teams for regional titles. We supported the following software amongst others: Lotus Notes, Quark, Adobe CS applications, Microsoft Office. To aid in support we utilise tools such as Active Directory, Open Directory, Apple Remote Desktop, Deploy Studio and Altiris.

I joined as an analyst on the editorial support team focused on providing first and second line support for the editorial staff of four national titles.

In this role I provided a very specific support service for a number of schools and its students. After joining the team I very quickly became the lead support officer for the three Mac studios as well as theother 80 PCs in the Learning and Development centre. I conducted Mac training sessions for students and provided guidance during workshops held by lecturers on a regular basis.Over time I became involved in the strategic planning aspects of the Mac studios, not just on my campus but also on others. I made a key contribution to how they were managed and had responsibility for making sure that consistency of setup and auditing of software was maintained throughout.

Starting as an online editor, I quickly moved into the IT team as an analyst providing support to over 100 users and a small publication team on a mixture of Windows and Mac platforms.
