I’m a Special Counsel to the IRS Associate Chief Counsel (Passthroughs & Special Industries), where I’m extensively involved with legislative developments and regulatory guidance involving the taxation of partnerships, LLCs, joint ventures, other pass-through entities, energy tax credits, and cost recovery. I previously was a partner in the Washington, DC office of Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP, where I led the firm’s efforts to assist investors and sponsors with tax-advantaged investments in energy, real estate, and infrastructure projects. I’ve also been in the Washington National Tax offices of two Big Four accounting firms, where I directed the leasing practice and advised clients on a wide range of tax matters, with an emphasis on tax incentives, tax accounting methods, and project finance and development. I’m a past Chair of the ABA Tax Section Real Estate Committee. I've spoken at numerous conferences and written articles appearing in various publications. I’m a member of the DC, Virginia, and Illinois bars. I received my undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Kansas. I'm an auxiliary board member of the National Links Trust, a non-profit organization that works to positively impact communities and change lives through affordable and accessible municipal golf.
