I initially joined Phillips as a Sales Consultant, with responsibility for a variety of document related hardware and software solutions. My career progressed into a specialist role for our then newly created, Managed Print Services specialist role. In this role, I supported the entire sales force as a specialized sales resource. Finally, I progressed into the Workflow Solutions Specialist role. In this role, I supported the entire sales force as a specialized sales resource for the consulting and design of ECM and other document related software solutions. I accepted an offer from The Bon Ton in the fall of my senior year at Penn State. Upon graduation, I joined their management training program with the goal to become an assistant buyer/planner. Through the training program I learned about all aspects of operations, including the processes around handling overstock and end of season closeout merchandise that was sent back from the stores. I created a plan to handle the sale of this out of stock merchandise in smaller lots through online outlets like eBay. The plan was approved, and a new role of Online Merchandise Coordinator was created for me to oversee the execution of the initiative. The project was a huge success, more than tripling revenues over the previous methods. In 2003, we were recognized by eBay as their “Quantity Trader of the Year.”
