Professor of Alternative Dispute Resolution (Mediation)

I provide professional Alternative Dispute Resolution services for 12 districts and 22 charter schools who are members of the Southwest Special Education Local Plan Area (SW SELPA) in coordination with Directors' special education and Superintendents' Council needs. These duties include:-Facillitate IEP team meetings at the request of the district and/or parent.-Conduct formal conflict resolution sessions at the district or SELPA offices to facilitate the acceptance of FAPE and prior to filing with CDE Complaints and/or OAH.-Provide formal mediation following a district or parent filing for due process.-Conduct trainings or workshops for various district and charter school staff including topics such as communication strategies, understanding the benefits of ADR, and making meetings work.

-Provide conflict resolution services to the community, schools, and businesses.-Perform mediations for community disputes and small claims disputes.-Provide speaking engagements on negotiation/conflict resolution to corporations, organizations, non-profits, schools and community centers.-For more information, please visit my website: www.hcrservices.com.com

-Use mediation techniques to facilitate communication between disputants, to further parties' understanding of different perspectives, and to guide parties toward mutual agreement.-Confer with disputants to clarify issues, identify underlying concerns, and develop an understanding of their respective needs and interests.-Participate in client in-take and gathering information about disputants before mediation.-Participate in community outreach and peer mediation at various schools.

-Manage Surety Claims across multiple jurisdictions-Analyze and address coverage issues timely and accurately under multiple bonds exposures.-Use knowledge of claim investigations, litigation and industry trends to make appropriate reserve recommendations on cases.-Work with outside counsel and consultants on the best methods for fulfilling obligations under the surety bond.-Work with construction firms in completing bonded projects, pursuing salvage and recovery opportunities.

-Prepared various motions, including Requests for Evidence.-Filed Employment-based, Marriage-based, and Family-based Green Card cases.-Researched case-law through Westlaw and LexisNexis.

-Assisted in filing various motions for a wrongful death lawsuit.-Researched case-law through Westlaw.-Assisted in calendaring court dates.
